What happened

The Detroit Lions and three-time Pro Bowl running back Jahmyr Gibbs reached agreement on a three-year extension worth $67.5 million (up to $75.75 million with incentives) that includes $51.5 million guaranteed. The deal, reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and confirmed by agent Todd France, carries an average annual value of $22.5 million and keeps Gibbs under contract through the 2030 season. It topped the recent extension signed by Atlanta’s Bijan Robinson and ends Gibbs’ training-camp hold-in. Gibbs had been limited or held out of early practices while negotiations continued.

Fantasy impact

The extension cements Gibbs as a locked-in elite RB1 with an expanded workload after the Lions traded David Montgomery. Managers can draft him with confidence near the top of boards knowing the team has committed long-term and expects him to handle a larger share of carries and receiving work in the new offense.
